FrequentFlyerTech earns money through affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly how that works, because you should be able to see the incentive behind any recommendation you’re reading.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we receive a commission from the provider. It costs you nothing extra: the price is the same as going direct.
That commission does not buy a ranking. We don’t accept payment for placement, for a positive review, or for a particular position in a list.
How to spot them
Affiliate links on this site point to frequentflyertech.com/recommends/ before redirecting to the provider. They’re also marked with rel="sponsored", which is the standard machine-readable signal for a paid link.
Any page carrying affiliate links says so near the top. If a page doesn’t mention it, there aren’t any.
The incentive worth knowing about
Here’s the part most disclosures leave out.
We don’t get paid to rank a provider first, and we don’t. But we are more likely to have covered a product that runs an affiliate programme at all, simply because that’s how a site like this stays funded. A genuinely excellent service with no affiliate programme is less likely to appear here, not because we’re hiding it, but because nothing directs our attention to it.
We try to counter that by naming strong non-affiliate options where they exist and matter. But you should know the shape of the bias rather than take “we’re unbiased” at face value. No affiliate site is structurally neutral, including this one.
What we won’t do
- Sell rankings. Position is never for sale, and we turn down offers to buy it.
- Take payment for a review outcome. A provider cannot pay to be reviewed favourably.
- Publish sponsored content as editorial. If anything on this site were ever paid placement, it would be labelled as such on the page. Currently, none of it is.
- Recommend something we wouldn’t use. Commission rates don’t appear in our editorial process and are never a factor in what gets recommended.
Programmes we’re in
We’re in the process of joining affiliate programmes across the four categories we cover: eSIM, VPN, travel money, and insurance. Where a commercial relationship exists with a product we recommend, the link is marked as described above.
Prices and terms
Prices, plans, and policy terms change often, and affiliate pages sometimes lag behind. The provider’s own site is always the authority on what you’ll pay. Where we quote a figure, we date it. If you find one that’s gone stale, tell us.
Why this page is longer than it needs to be
Because a one-line disclosure buried in a footer meets the letter of the requirement and tells you nothing. If our recommendations are worth trusting, they should survive you knowing precisely how we get paid.
