FrequentFlyerTech exists because buying the boring parts of a trip is harder than it should be.
Booking the flight is easy. Then you need data that works when you land, a way to spend money without losing 3% to fees you can’t see, something that gets your banking app working from a foreign IP, and cover for the day something goes properly wrong. Four decisions, all of them dull, all of them annoying to get wrong, and all of them buried under comparison sites that rank whoever pays most.
What we do
We cover four categories (eSIM, VPN, travel money, and insurance) and try to answer one question per page: which of these should you actually buy, and why.
That means being specific about trade-offs rather than declaring winners. The best travel eSIM genuinely depends on which local carrier a provider resells in your destination. The best VPN depends on whether you want streaming, privacy, or access in a country that filters the internet. A page that flattens those into a single ranking looks more decisive and helps you less.
How we work
We’re research-led. Most of what you read here comes from primary sources: carrier coverage maps, fee schedules, policy wordings, regulator pages. We read them properly and translate them into something you can act on quickly. Where hands-on testing changes the answer, we test, and we label it clearly when we have.
What we don’t do is present research as first-hand experience. If we read something off a provider’s own page, we say so and link it. If we ran it ourselves, we say when and where. The full standard is set out in how we test, including the parts that aren’t flattering.
How we pay for it
