I'm Ignas — a Lithuanian expat living in Germany, with a career spent in technology, half of it inside one of the world's leading VPN providers. For the past five years I've worked remotely and spent close to half of each year on the road: transatlantic business trips, multi-month winter escapes to Southern Europe and Asia, and the occasional properly exotic detour.

This site exists because travel tech is full of quiet rip-offs. I've been sold "tourist internet packages" that barely worked, and I've spent enough years inside the VPN industry to know exactly what happens to your traffic on an open hotel network. FrequentFlyerTech is the short list that came out of those two irritations: the tools I actually carry, and why.

  • eSIMs — I don't board a plane without one installed. A daily dependency, not a review subject.
  • VPNs — my professional home. Always on, on every device I own; I also run a separate research site on cybersecurity.
  • Travel money — I've cycled through more banking and card services than I'd like to admit, keeping the ones that support travel instead of profiting from it.
  • Insurance — an honest occasional buyer: I get covered when the itinerary earns it, and I read the exclusions so you don't have to.
